Senior Newsletter
September 2008
Welcome to the forthcoming season, about to get underway. We look forward to seeing you back for another great summer and hopefully attracting many new members as well.
OPENING DAY will be on Sunday, 14th September, 1.30pm start. We welcome new members, so come along and give it a go and also bring along a friend. Tennis will be followed by afternoon tea and a BBQ.
COMMITTEE – We would like to welcome the new committee members for this year, Sharlene Stokes, secretary, and Gary Cotter, Brett Loper and Marek Wojcikowski. The club captains are Adam Whauwhau and Haylee Webber. Other members are Peter Gault, President, Richard Owen, Treasurer, Phil Irvine, and Tia Ormsby-van Selm. The Junior convenor is Debbie Hamilton and Julie Griffin is the Mid-week representative.
CLUB BOOKLET - is available and can be picked up at the club, or an electronic version is downloadable off the web. It contains the membership form which lists the subscriptions for this season. Unfortunately the subs have been increased because of a substantial increase in the lease (70%) and increased affiliation fees.
INTERCLUB – starts 11th October for the senior teams and 27th September for Premiers. The format will be similar to that for last year. If you are interested in playing in a team please ring Adam on 829 5475 or Haylee 856 1143 or add your name to the list on the club notice board. Subs need to be fully paid before the start of the interclub competition.
T-SHIRTS - will again be for sale at the cost of $35 for adults and $30 for juniors. These are navy and white and are ideal for interclub.
EMAIL ADDRESSES –We will be emailing out newsletters and other bits of info from time to time. If you have an email address that we can send you info on, and it is acceptable to you that we can use it, we’d like to email you rather than post you. Please don’t be concerned if you don’t have email. Those members who don’t receive email will still receive newsletters etc in the post.
WEB SITE – Please remember to check our web-site for regular updates : www.lugtonparktennis.org.nz Waikato Tennis now also have a website www.waikatotennis.co.nz where they will have interclub draws, results etc posted throughout the season.
ACCESS TO THE COURTS – Lugton Park leases 6 courts from Waikato Tennis. These courts are available for LPTC members on most occasions, but are relinquished for Waikato and New Zealand events. Note that these events do not include Business House ( Monday nights ), and Waikato Coaching Squads. If you have any queries or concerns on availability, please contact the LPTC President. Hire of the lights, and also the indoor courts, is available through booking with Waikato Tennis —ph 856 8181
COURT SECURITY – Please make sure when you are playing outside of normal club days or times, to close and lock the gate when coming in and going out.
MARKETING – the best form of advertising is word of mouth. Please spread the word of how much fun it is to play tennis at LPTC. The next time you come, bring a new friend along, and so on, and so on…..
Regards from your L.P.T.C. Team.
