Junior Newsletter – September, 2007
Welcome back to tennis and to our junior club. Please keep this newsletter for future reference. We hope you enjoy the forthcoming season. Club activities and tennis will get underway from 18th and 19th October – see age groups and session times.
Prompt payment on subscriptions is required. The current shoe-tag and a receipt are given to show that a person is a financial member. A $10 fee will be charged to all children not wearing current shoe-tags.
Juniors can use the courts at any time providing they are a financial member, and the courts are open and available. Juniors are not provided with a gate key.
JUNIOR ENROLMENTS
Enrolments for juniors will take place during club sessions at the first two weeks of tennis. Murielle Levesque will be onhand at the club to take enrolments. Alternatively your enrolment form and cheque can also be posted in to LPTC, P.O. Box 4069, Hamilton East. Receipts and current shoe tags will be handed out during club nights.
Pee Wee Tennis children will need to pre-enrol, either by phone or mail by 12th October.
CLUB NIGHTS
Club nights will be run by our club coach, and several assistant coaches. The coaches are contracted from the Waikato Tennis Association. Club nights will consist of a structured programme including coaching, drills, challenges, matches and fun games. Please arrive on time, as juniors are sorted into abilities and groups at the beginning of each session. Club nights will be cancelled if wet, and make up sessions at the end of the term. Current shoe-tags must be worn at all club nights or $10 casual fee will be charged.
Match Play is designed for those players wanting to play matches only, particular for those playing interclub. Any member 11 years and up can attend the match play session, however an extra $20 is required for the season.
Last club night for this year will be 7th and 8th December for Term 4, and A newsletter will be sent out in January to all financial members advising of the commencement of Term 1 2008.
INTERCLUB
Interclub is played on Sunday mornings 9am commencing late October and running for typically 6 Sundays before Christmas and another 5 or 6 weeks after Christmas. Each team normally consists of 5 players, with one taking turns to stand down each week. Children play singles and doubles in their respective age groups, ie 10 years and under (boys and girls), 12s, 14s 16s and under 20s.
If you want to play interclub please email Debbie Hamilton on d.hamilton@waikato.ac.nz, with your name, phone #, age, date of birth or ph 856 4288. All interclub players must be paid up club members.
Each team requires a Parent Manager who is responsible for their team. Please mark on your enrolment form if you are able to be a team manager.
Interclub is at no extra cost and is a great way of improving match play.
INTERCLUB GRADING / PRACTICE DAY
This will take place on Friday 26th October at 4pm to 7pm. You must attend this if you are interested in playing interclub. If you are not able to attend but still wish to play interclub please let Debbie know immediately.
PEE WEE TENNIS
This group caters for all levels for ages 5 to 7 years. The cost of this is $75 for 6 weeks and the sessions are for 30 minutes and include a racquet and hat for stage 1.

This programme is a follow on for those children who have participated in groups run through local schools and any other beginners. There will be further levels of Pee Wee Tennis available in Term 1 of 2006 and children will need to re-enrol. Children need to pre-enrol for this group by sending in the enrolment form and cheque, or phoning by 12th October.
SENIOR CLUB DAYS
The club would like to encourage any High School age players of a good standard to also participate in Senior Club Days. These are Thursdays from 5.30pm and Sundays from 1.30pm. Please just add your name to the senior blackboard on arrival and cross out one round before you wish to leave.
T-SHIRTS
We have Lugton Park T-Shirts available. These are navy and white and cost $30. Children playing interclub look really smart in these shirts, especially when matched up with navy shorts or a skirt. Available at the club rooms.
ADDITIONAL COACHING
We are pleased to advise that our club coach will be available for extra coaching in smaller squads of similar ability outside of normal club times and at extra cost. Please ring Waikato Tennis Association 856-8181 if you are interested. All children participating in LPTC Club or Waikato Tennis Association squads must be affiliated to a tennis club.
FAMILY AND SENIOR SUBSCRIPTIONS
Details of family and senior subs are available on the seniors page. There is a $20 discount off all adult subs paid in September, i.e. $150 instead of $170 for social players, $180 instead of $200 for full members and $330 instead of $350 for families. Families include 2 adults and any school-age children. Senior club days are Sundays 1.30pm and Thursdays 5.30pm (when daylight saving commences). Midweek club days are Wednesday 9am.
